I once helped a friend make a film about a robot who finds true love. I was the actor inside the male robot suit, and let me tell you, that thing was uncomfortable as all hell. It was the very definition of ill-fitting, poked and prodded me in all the wrong places, was overbearingly hot, and drew too much attention everywhere we went. I had throngs of kids following me around, berating me with questions and fists. But it was fun! It’s the best acting role because nobody can see your face and you don’t have to say anything … so it’s really easy to get in character.
I can only imagine how much fun it would be to make this video for LCD Soundsytem … if you stay with it, you’ll see the robot rise from sidewalk rambler to party king extraordinaire. Forget the steamy robot sex scene, I wanna party with the girl @5:30 in the white top grinding on robo…<RAWR!>
Visually pleasing video aside, the song has an introspective love vibe to it, not unlike the classic “This Must Be The Place” by the Talking Heads. ‘Home’ is about the delicate, romantic relationships you form when all you do is party. So, um, keep on raging? Just kidding…go ahead and party and have fun, but step outside of it every once in a while to keep things in your life REAL, especially love.

This is the weirdest song and video of ALL TIME.
Of course, our man of the hour, Diplo, has a hand in this totally focked production from South African crazies Die Antwoord. The video opens up creepy as hell with that weird pasty girl who is oddly attractive whilst being simultaneously disgusting. All the haircuts (even Diplo’s) are horrendous. Lots of boners, and all the dudes are in boxers, and at one point the MC is rapping into his own penis.
And yet, it works wonderfully … it’s entertaining like grinding with a fat chick on the dancefloor.

And, as a side note, while the young, black MC’s verse about old men staying away from his strong penis because he’s not gay and it’s for the ladies sounds like a focked up version of how american rappers boast about their members … in his Xosha community in South Africa, it’s tradition to circumcise the boys in their teens as part of a ritual to become a man. It’s done with a big knife and no anestesia, so it’s pretty gnarly. The MC is rebelling against this tradition … make sense now?

M.I.A. vs Diplo = drama fo yo’ mama
I’m pretty bad with those whole ‘gossip recap’ thing, so here’s the quick and dirty for youse guys.
Diplo has dated M.I.A. in the past but it didn’t work out, yet the two remained friends and worked together on her recent album ‘/\/\/\Y/'.
Apparently, M.I.A. had cut some of the songs that Diplo had helped make for the final release of the album, which he was none too happy about, and he called the album a ‘turd’.
She responded by buying a domain and putting up a looping .gif of a song with one of his beats and some feisty lyrics like “you can have my money, but you can’t have me.”

Then she released another song on another crazy repeating animated .gif domain name site called:

And all I can think of is how bad it would suck if you were famous and all your dirty laundry got aired out in public.
